Another year older. Another year wiser. If I could give advice to my 26 year-old self last year I would tell her:
1. Don’t sweat the small stuff.
I have such a hard time letting go but I would tell my younger self:
Stop trying to control everything in your life and what’s around you. You can’t control everything. You will cause yourself so much unneeded stress.
2. Be patient
Even though you believe you deserve something doesn’t mean it will be yours right away. Good things take time. Everything should be a natural progression not forced.
3. Be grateful
It is so easy to compare yourself to others and to society pressure/norms. It can make you feel as if where you are in life is not much in comparison to others. Stop this negative thinking. Appreciate everything you have in life because there are so many people that are not fortunate as you
4. Love yourself
You are good enough. As you grow older and your physical body changes that should not change your inner peace within yourself. It’s ok if you’ve gained some weight. The curves look good on you. It’s ok if people misjudge you or have preconceived notions about you. You know the truth, you know who you are. Only the people that truly know you and love you know your true self and that’s all that matters. Really it’s the only thing that does. Love yourself so much that no one on this earth could love yourself more. There is so much strength in that
